Tarpaulins, canvas goods maker exports to regional markets

Local tarpaulins and canvas goods manufacturer, Power Seven Investments has started exporting its products into the region driven by a competitive price structure.

In an interview with the Harare Bureau yesterday Power Seven Investments director Francis Goreraza said they have discovered a viable market in the Sadc region adding that the company has enough capacity to meet market demands.

The company recently acquired a state-of-the-art Tarpaulin-making equipment which was installed at the Harare factory.

“With a competitive customer oriented approach, we’re proud to be manufacturing quality products for our clients. The support from our clients has been invaluable in achieving our goals and we’re now strategically positioned for anticipated economic growth.

“Many companies ceased operations while a lot more have downsized but Power Seven has survived the storm and continues to grow as both management and staff remain positive. We’ve heeded the call by the government to price our products competitively due to the strength of the US dollar and as such we’ve changed the complexion of the game.

Power Seven Investments manufactures tents, tarpaulins, bakkie (tonneau) covers, collapsible ventilation ductings, shaft sinking suits, aprons, fowl run curtains, miners’ bags, canvas water bags, rainwear, boat covers, canvas canopies, camp stretcher beds, life jackets, life rings, laundry bags, hospital mattresses, awnings among others. These products are offered to both the corporate and individual clients.

He said the tarpaulins and canvas industry in Zimbabwe has not been getting the recognition that it deserves but the industry has capacity to be a big employer and to contribute to economic growth considering the export market potential.

Goreraza said the company’s factories are equipped with tarpaulin welding machines for the manufacturing of PVC tents and Truck Tarpaulins, sewing machines for easy and accurate stitching of all canvas products involving heavy duty fabric grades and a metal fabrication shop for the fabrication of all tent frames, awning frames and frames for the canvas canopies.

The company currently uses raw materials and fittings sourced from ISO Certified global partners to ensure that their end products are of high quality.

Power Seven Canvas and Industrial was established in Bulawayo in 2002 and started manufacturing Canvas and PVC products in 2004 after successfully setting up a factory in the city.

The company set up another factory unit in Harare in 2012, a move that has placed Power Seven in a strong position to achieve its vision of becoming the preferred partner in sectors such as Mining, Transport, Tourism, Health Manufacturing, Agriculture and Outdoors.
