He was the father to deputy director and Minister Shamu’s personal assistant Cde Simbarashe Tavengerweyi.
Cde Tavengerweyi (82) died on October 6 at his Madzivire home in Zaka after succumbing to bronchial typhoid.
Minister Shamu described Cde Tavengerweyi’s death as a sharp blow to the family.
“It is painful that Baba Tavengerwi has passed away when his family was looking forward to his recovery after exerting all efforts to ensure that he received the best treatment,” he said.
“Cde Tavengerwi and the entire family, we say the peace which comes from the memories of outpouring love, shared grief and support from your colleagues in the Ministry comfort you now and in the days to come.
“May the comfort of the Almighty God help you during this very difficult period, although no words can sufficiently assist to ease the pain you endure, bear in mind that you are very close in our every thought and prayer.”
Cde Tavengerweyi was born in Zaka District in 1929.
He is survived by four children – three boys and a girl – eight grand children and four great-grand children.
He will be buried at Madzivire village in Zaka today.
