A 23-YEAR-OLD taxi driver was on Sunday hired by three robbers who took his vehicle and dumped him at a cemetery.

Lionel Kufakwechune of Western Triangle was hired from Spaceman Shopping Centre in Glen Norah, Harare at around 8pm.

The three men hired his silver Honda Fit registration (AFY 1420) saying they wanted to be driven to Budiriro 5.

Upon reaching the Budiriro turn-off, one of the robbers, who was seated in the back seat, grabbed Lionel by the neck while the vehicle was in motion.

The other robber took control of the vehicle.

They tied Lionel’s legs and hands using shoe laces, drove to Mbudzi Roundabout where they dumped him at Glenville Cemetery.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a robbery case in Glen Norah.

“The complainant, a taxi driver, was hired by suspected robbers and went away with his vehicle.

“Total value stolen is US$3 210,” said Insp Chakanza.
