BRENDAN Taylor is back in action and ready to fire as Zimbabwe’s Chevrons take on Namibia in the T20 series opener at Queens Sports Club this morning.
The veteran batsman, fully recovered from a finger injury, will play his first T20 international in four years after returning to international cricket in July. He missed last week’s three-match series against Sri Lanka in Harare.
Taylor is one of three changes Zimbabwe made to the squad, with Wellington Masakadza and Dion Myers also coming in. Dropped from the team are Tony Munyonga, Tinotenda Maposa, and Sean Williams.
Both sides are using the series to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025, set to run in Harare from September 26 to October 4.
Namibia won the toss and chose to field first.
Zimbabwe XI: Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brendan Taylor, Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Tashinga Musekiwa, Wellington Masakadza, Bradley Evans, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani.
Namibia XI: Jan Frylinck, Malan Kruger, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Gerhard Erasmus, JJ Smit, Dylan Leicher, Zein Green, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Jack Brassell, Alexander Busing-Volschenk.
The series promises fireworks as Taylor looks to lead the Chevrons back to winning ways.
