TEAM Zimbabwe UK will be holding a victory celebration at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel Old Shire in the United Kingdom (UK) on 15 February to celebrate their achievements over the past decade.

In the last five years, the team has managed to scoop five major honours with their Youth, Senior and Legends teams winning the 2016 UK Afcon Under-17 Cup, 2017 UK Afcon Under-17 Cup, 2018 Inner City World Cup Vets Cup, 2019 Inner City World Cup , Vets Cup and the 2019 UK Afcon Senior Cup.

The event, which is scheduled to start at 6.30 pm and end at 9.30pm, will have on their calendar the trophy dedication, players awards presentation, appreciation of coaches, parents, legends and sponsors, highlights of the 2019 Zimbabwe tour as well as the unveiling of the 2020 diary in the programme.

Team Zimbabwe UK chief executive Marshall Gore said as a community organisation one of their main objectives was to promote good community cohesion.

“To us, community cohesion refers to the aspect of togetherness and bonding exhibited by us as a community, the “glue” that holds us together. Over the years as a community, we have achieved success by working successfully with diverse people from Zimbabwe with different socio-economic backgrounds and circumstances, creating life opportunities and a shared common vision.

“This we have achieved amid the much-publicised political polarisation which has in the past years bedevilled most of our communities,” said Gore.

Last year, the UK-based development under 23 Diaspora side had a homecoming tour in the country which ran from May 1-13 where they also had a chance to play a series of friendly matches.

Over the years Team Zimbabwe UK coaching team has also helped to support with nurturing and development of several Zimbabwean players in the Diaspora who have turned professional. The most notable of these new graduates are Tendai Chiteza, Tinotenda Chibharo, Shama Bako, Seth Patrick, Martin Zulu, Prince Mutsvunguma, Ethan Kachose, Wilson Chingoka, Beston Matabile, Joshua Jeche and Muzzy Nduna.
