SWIMMING coach Earl Joseph is confident they will stand their own when the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships get underway in Gaborone, Botswana, on Wednesday.
Joseph is one of the coaches in charge of the Zimbabwean team. He said they have a strong team for the assignment.
“Our crop of swimmers is very strong. We have some medallists from last year in our mix.
“We have also got some Youth Olympic swimmers in our mix this year. So, we are looking for some strong times, some medals,” said Joseph.
Namibia were the overall winners last year while South Africa were second.
Zimbabwe were third.
“We will definitely be in the mix there because we have a lot of strong swimmers.
“And that’s why we go to these meets, to compete and hopefully get something out of it. Hopefully it will be a podium this year,” Joseph said.
