ZIFA Bulawayo Province is expected to rule on the abandoned Division Two encounter between CIWU and Ajax Hotspurs, with the result set to have a major impact on the tight race for promotion.
The title race is now a battle between three teams, with the top two teams getting automatic promotion to Division One.
Toronto top the table with 63 points from 28 games. Second-placed CIWU have accumulated 59 points from 27 games, while Ajax are third with 58 points from the same number of games. With two games remaining, the teams are headed for a photo finish.
With Toronto seemingly guaranteed a top place finish, CIWU and third-placed Ajax Hotspurs are in a fierce contest for second position.
The two sides clashed at Bango grounds three weeks in what was a top of the table clash, but the game came to an abrupt end after visiting CIWU walked off the pitch in protest over a refereeing decision.
All hell broke loose 23 minutes into the second half when Ajax striker Tanaka Hove converted a free kick from just outside the box to send Ajax into the lead.
CIWU players and technical team protested the goal arguing the free kick was given as an indirect free kick, but Ajax took it as a direct kick. With CIWU failing to come to terms with the goal, the game was abandoned with Ajax leading 1-0.
With the rules of the game clear on causing the abandonment of game, Ajax are most likely to be awarded three points on a 3-0 score line. In the event that Ajax are awarded the points, they will move into second place, two points above CIWU. All three teams were in action this past weekend and got maximum points.
Toronto beat How Mine 2-0, while CIWU ran over Arenel 3-0 and Ajax edged a stubborn Saints Academy 1-0.
