A 16-YEAR-OLD from Imbesu Farm on the outskirts of Bulawayo has to thank his gods as he almost died after he was axed on the head by unknown men who were demanding cash.

A source close to investigations told B- Metro that Lloyd Dumani was relaxing in his bedroom with his cousin when they noticed three men standing outside the yard while another man was heading to the kitchen.

Worried about that, Dumani confronted the unknown man. This is when all hell broke loose.

The source said the man attacked Dumani with an axe on the head.

“They never knew that the man was up to no good as he struck Dumani with an axe on the head. He fell down and bled profusely. He passed out in a pool of blood,” said the source.

Sensing danger his cousin who was following at a distance made a hasty turn and dashed to a neighbour’s homestead.

“He alerted a neighbour who quickly came but the unknown men had already fled from the house. He rendered first aid to Dumani and luckily he regained consciousness.

“They reported the matter to the police before taking him to a hospital,” said the source.

Deputy Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said: “We are investigating a case of attempted murder where one of four unknown men who are on the run attacked a 16-year-old with an axe on the head. We appeal to anyone with information that may lead to their arrest to contact any nearest police station.”
