A Chitungwiza teenager will spend three years behind bars for rape and indecent assault.

The 17-year-old boy was found guilty of raping one girl twice and sexually molesting two others on different occasions.

Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mrs Estere Chivasa convicted the teen on overwhelming evidence after a full trial.

Mrs Chivasa initially imposed a five-year jail term, before conditionally setting aside two years.

Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa appeared for the State.

Facts are that on December 27 last year, a six-year-old girl was playing with her friends when the boy lured her to his parents’ house next door.

The boy entered the house through the door and made the little girl jump through into his bedroom.

While inside, the boy became intimate with girl before taking her out of the house.

He raped her again the following day in a similar manner.

The matter came to light the following day when a neighbour caught him sexually abusing two other girls, who were friends to the rape victim.

On the other two counts, the court heard that on December 28 last year, a five-year-old victim was playing with her two friends at the boy’s house.

The boy asked the three girls to remove their panties and follow him into a non-runner vehicle parked nearby.

The girls refused.

He later took the trio into his bedroom where he undressed and indecently assaulted them.

The boy repeated the same unlawful act outside the house and was caught red-handed by a neighbour who alerted community elders.

A police report was immediately made, leading to the boy’s arrest.
