Police have arrested Trymore Phiri (26), believed to be part of a the gang that stormed the homestead on 4 December 2025. His two accomplices are still on the run.
The suspects, according to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, broke into the complainants’ house under the cover of darkness and immediately unleashed terror.
They reportedly threatened the occupants with Colombian knives, demanding cash while ransacking the home. In the chaos the gang grabbed a Bluetooth speaker, three cellphones and US$80 before moving through the house searching for more valuables. Comm Nyathi said Phiri entered a room where a 19 year old woman was asleep. He allegedly woke her up, threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her, leaving the young victim shaken and traumatised.
He said police have launched a manhunt for the remaining two suspects and urged the public to assist with information that can lead to their arrest.
Comm Nyathi urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the other suspects, to contact their nearest police station.
