A TEENAGER from Bulawayo has appeared in court for allegedly raping a 37-year-old prostitute whom he had hired for a one night stand in New Magwegwe suburb.

Pride Ndlovu (17) met the woman at Esiqongweni Beergarden and allegedly hired her for the night.

When they were on their way to the woman’s place, Ndlovu allegedly raped her.

Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to rape before West Commonage magistrate, Ms Sibongile Marondedze.

He was remanded out of custody on free bail to September 27 for continuation of trial.

Ndlovu said the woman was fixing him for failing to pay her.

“We had agreed to have sex but I failed to pay her. I didn’t rape her, she is trying to fix me,” he said.

Prosecuting, Ms Samantha Gubede said on August 31, Ndlovu allegedly sexually abused the woman while she was on her way home from Esiqongweni Beergarden.

“Ndlovu pushed the complainant onto the ground and raped her without using a condom,” she said.

The woman said Ndlovu refused to show her money before they had sex and forced her to have sex. “He had offered me $30 and I told him that it was not enough. I asked him to top up with $60 but he pushed me to the ground and raped me,” she said.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest. — @sharonbuwe.
