A BULAWAYO woman was stabbed once on the left shoulder after being accused of snatching a teenager’s boyfriend.

Sheron Gumbo, 18, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze charged with assault.

She was convicted to her own plea of guilty and was fined $50 for assaulting Moreen Ndlovu, 18.

“You are a first offender who pleaded guilty to the charge and did not waste the court’s time, you are ordered to pay a fine of $50,” said magistrate Msipa-Marondedze.

Gumbo told the court that she stabbed Ndlovu because she had snatched her boyfriend.

She said it had not been her intention to injure her.

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza said on May 14 at around 5PM, Gumbo went to Ndlovu place of residence and found her seating outside.

“Gumbo started accusing Ndlovu of snatching her boyfriend Delight Ndlovu and bragging about it,” said Mageza.

The court heard that Gumbo said Ndlovu was telling people in the neighbourhood that she was in a relationship with Delight.

Gumbo allegedly suggested that they go to Delight’s place of residence so he could choose whom he loves the most and the two agreed to go together.

“Along the way Gumbo pulled out a knife that she used to stab Ndlovu once on the back of her left shoulder,” said the prosecutor.

Ndlovu sustained a deep cut and the matter was reported at Magwegwe police station, leading to Gumbo’s arrest.
