A TEENAGE love row turned bloody at Sokusile Shopping Centre when an 18-year-old from Nkulumane allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old boy in the chest over a suspected affair.
Qhawelenkosi Mnkandla appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mrs Sibongile Marondedze, facing attempted murder charges. He was granted free bail and remanded to August 8, 2025.
As part of his bail conditions, Mnkandla was ordered not to interfere with witnesses, must continue residing at his current address and report to ZRP Nkulumane every Friday.
Principal prosecutor Milton Moyo told the court the incident occurred on 19 July 2025, at the busy shopping centre.
“The complainant had gone to download his homework when the accused approached him, questioning him about an alleged affair,” said Moyo.
A heated argument followed. Mnkandla allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the boy in the left side of the chest.
The victim was rushed to Mpilo Hospital, where he received treatment for the stab wound.
