Ga-Sekgopo, Limpopo police said yesterday.
Spokesperson Mohale Ramatseba said: “It is reported police were conducting a stop and search operation at Ga-Sekgopo at about 01:00 when they stopped the three boys who were walking drinking liquor.”
A fight ensued after the boys – two aged 15 and one 18 – refused to be searched.
“A female officer was stabbed in the back and on the hand and a male officer was stabbed on the shoulder and also bitten on (the) cheek,” he said.
Two of the boys were shot in the leg.
All five were admitted to hospital and the police officers were discharged shortly afterwards.
Two of the teenagers remain in hospital under police guard and the third is in police custody.
The teenagers face charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, defeating the ends of justice and malicious damage to property for damaging the windscreen of a police vehicle. – SAPA.
