TELECEL Zimbabwe has announced a retail expansion programme following the roll out of 500 kiosks in the country. The mobile operator’s communications and branding director, Obert Mandimika, said the company was happy with the progress that has been made so far.
He said by increasing the company’s retail footprint, Telecel was going to cater for its customers and increase convenience and accessibility of its products and services.
“Telecel’s retail expansion programme which started in July this year with the deployment of kiosks and franchise shops has been a success,” said Mandimika.
“We’re happy to announce that from the 200 kiosks we announced in mid-September we now have 500 kiosks and counting.”
He said the retail expansion programme will ensure that kiosks and other related retail outlets will offer a wide range of products and services including the sale of airtime to both end users and vendors, SIM cards, line reconnections and telecash cash-in and cash-out transactions.
“Our retail expansion programme is far from over. Telecel intends to continue to focus on the convenience our customers have come to expect from our brand and we promise to continue to innovate to deliver on our customers’ expectations,” explained Mandimika.
He said the mobile company intends to continue with its retail expansion programme by deploying more kiosks nationwide well into the New Year and introducing more franchise shops as part of its customer service experience strategy.
“Telecel’s retail expansion initiative isn’t only beneficial to Telecel and our customers, it goes further to offer business opportunities to local entrepreneurs who have a chance to partner us in running the kiosks or franchises,” he said.
“Our partnerships allow local business people to be integrated into our business ecosystem. Telecel’s view is that in a shrinking formal job market entrepreneurship can help create revenue streams and employment opportunities outside traditional career paths.”
The roll out of the Telecel branded kiosks is part of the mobile network’s retail expansion initiative which the company announced in mid-September 2015 after rolling out 200 kiosks.
Telecel kiosks have also been helping empower local entrepreneurs as all the kiosks and franchise shops are run by local business people.
