TELONE coach Jairos Tapera heaped praises on his technical bench after the Premiership debutants registered their first win in the top flight at Luveve yesterday.

Tafadzwa Sibanda made history for the “Wi-fi Boys” as he became the first player to score a Premier Soccer League goal for the newly promoted Gweru side.

He was on target in the 78th minute, latching on to a loose ball at the edge of the box before rifling home.

TelOne are now on four points after drawing their debut PSL match against Herentals at Rufaro last Sunday.

“We saw that they (Bulawayo Chiefs) were using a 3-5-2 formation, which we countered and had two strikers upfront.

“We also knew these guys were slow in terms of pace, we stretched these guys by playing down the lines, having crosses,” said Tapera, whose technical bench also has Joel Lupahla, the man who led TelOne into the Premiership.

“Thanks to the young boys, I think they put 110 percent. We kept our nerve and here we are with three points.

“I also think Frankson Bushiri did well, he is my man of the match, he did a good job on their strikers.”

Bulawayo Chiefs remain winless in their opening two games following a 0-5 drubbing at the hands of Chapungu at Mandava on Match Day One.

Meanwhile, ZPC Kariba needed a late Takabva Mawaya penalty to pick up their first win of the season at Nyamhunga yesterday.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, ZPC Kariba were handed a penalty after Herentals’ William Kapfuma handled. Goalkeeper Mawaya did not disappoint from 12 yards. Herentals, one of the surprise teams from last season, have a point from two matches having played to a goalless draw against TelOne in their opening match.
