Gospel musician Tembalami has come of age, and this best describes the singer who rose from humble beginnings in Chitungwiza and has grown to become a powerhouse act.
On Saturday, his show was almost 80 percent full at 7 Arts auditorium, that made up his Grand Finale, despite a late start from the scheduled time.
Backed by fellow gospel musicians Nyasha Mutonhori, Pastor G, Minister Michael Mahendere, Janet Manyowa and Sabastian Magacha, Tembalami demonstrated why he is now one of the most sought-after gospel musicians in Zimbabwe.
His performance was flawless and the atmosphere was charged.
“I thank God for the grace to serve through my music and I am even more encouraged by the huge turn-out,” he said. “God has been faithful since day one and I am grateful that our hard work and professionalism is now paying off.
“The goal is to minister hope and draw people closer to God through inspired music and I thank God we have capped a successful music year with this stellar concert. We just can’t wait for what 2024 will bring us. I am grateful to our partners, the fans, my pastors, church mates and fellow musicians for standing with me.”
First on stage was the vocally gifted Mutonhori, who delivered a flawless performance backed by an appreciative crowd that danced along to her every song.
Nyasha then left the stage to Tembalami who upped the tempo and raved up the crowd.
In his act, Tembalami shared the meaning of a song written by his brother which kept him going during a difficult time when their father was unwell.
It was an emotional performance that left the crowd spellbound.
“Every performance is an opportunity to minister and I thank God for the grace to share the Lord’s goodness in song,” he said. “For me its more of ministry than anything else. God has carried us from our lowest moments in life to be who we are today and we always feel moved when ministering.”
Minister Mahendere then came on stage and blessed the crowd with his much-loved song Tangai Neni which had everyone on their feet.
The audience were screaming for one more song before he left the stage for Pastor G. Pastor G’s energetic performance had the audience dancing, changing the atmosphere. He stepped up the energy in the audience before Sabastian wowed the crowd with his act.
His performance on the song 1 plus 1 had the audience on high voltage, leading the show into an energetic praise segment led by Thembalami and all the artistes till the end of the show.
