Ten-men Chegutu Pirates held GreenFuel to a goalless draw four days after picking another vital point against Manica Diamonds in their midweek fixture as they look to climb up the standings in the Castle Lager Premier league standings.

Pirates had to play the last seven minutes plus added time with a man down after their marksman Gift Mwinga was shown a red card after a second bookable offence.

GreenFuel had better exchanges in the opening half but chances were few and far between both sides despite playing entertaining football for a decent crowd at the Arena.

Chris Ngwende missed a good chance to put the home side ahead blazing his effort over the bar after being brilliantly set up by veteran striker Donald Ngoma in the penalty area inside the opening half-hour.

Ngoma almost got an opener with a half chance he got five minutes before the breather but his volleyed effort narrowly missed target with the home supporters off their seats.

Chegutu Pirates were resolute in defence and had Aaron Dzangai to thank on the cusp of half-time as he put his body on the line to head Brian Chikwenya’s rasping effort for a corner kick.

The second half was a balanced affair and Chegutu Pirates were organised in defence thwarting every chance created by the hosts keeping a third clean sheet in a row with identical nil results in their last three games.

GreenFuel: Tendai Chirara, Chris Ngwende (Mandlekosi Gasela 64min), Brian Chikwenya, Nelson Mwasanga (Washington Mapuwa 64min), Reginald Chinemo, Adrian Silla, Bruno Mtigo (Garikai Dematsika 70min), Collins Dhuwa (Clive Rupiya 70min), Donald Ngoma (James Nguluve 64min), Tashinga Pfende, Daren Mutimunzeve
