INSTITUTIONS of higher learning, enterprises and industries should align their strategies to national priorities, particularly the attainment of upper-middle-class economic status by 2030, Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Dr Frederick Shava has said.
In a speech read on his behalf by his deputy Simelisizwe Sibanda at Verify Engineering’s five-year strategic planning workshop yesterday, Minister Shava said the firm was one of the country’s key agencies and partners in bridging higher education, research and industrial application.
“By investing in research, technology and skills development, you are not only building a stronger company, but also strengthening the nation’s industrial backbone,” he said.
“Allow me to begin by acknowledging the remarkable strides Verify Engineering has made in recent years.
“Your contributions to advancing industrialisation, fostering innovation and driving the NDS1 and Vision 2030 have set a commendable benchmark for the engineering sector.”
Minister Shava added that from designing cutting-edge solutions to executing transformative projects, Verify Engineering stands as a testament to the capacity of indigenous expertise.
He commended the company’s leadership for steering the organisation with foresight and resilience amid evolving challenges in the global and local economic landscapes.
“The formation of Strategic Business Units within your company has allowed Verify Engineering to work smart as you strive to unleash your potential to the market,” said Minister Shava.
Some of the company’s strategic business units already on the market and are steadily growing include VE Gases, which is responsible for business development and market share growth in the medical and industrial gases sector.
VE Energy is responsible for business development and market share growth in the energy and plant automation sector while VE Technical Services is responsible for business development and market share growth in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracting for manufacturing plants, medical engineering, gas reticulation systems, among others.
VE Technology and Innovation Support Centre is responsible for industrial research and product development.
