ZIMBABWEAN content creator Marvelous Nyongoro, popularly known as ‘The African Finder’, has partnered with South African Tourism as an official brand ambassador.

The African Finder is a food content creator who has made waves in the country with his food blogs and reviews of food found in Zimbabwe.

He has worked with Feli Nandi and other big restaurants around the country.

Born and bred in Nyanga, he is now one of the most sought-after food critics, with brands like Chicken Hut, Alechi, Fairy Cafe and Coffee Republik benefiting from his services.

He has demonstrated that social media is a perfect marketing tool.

The African Finder has become TikTok and Instagram’s go-to food reviewer.

His platforms currently have over 100 000 followers.

He has since invested in equipment such as cameras and acquired video-editing skills.

“I underwent training in comprehension digital marketing with the aim of pushing my brand so that I not only become the most sought-after food reviewer in Zimbabwe but also in Africa at large,” he said.

His platforms, he said, were created as a way of coping with the psychological effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Still trying to process this moment. I had the incredible honour of meeting the Minister of Tourism for South Africa.

“She personally acknowledged the impact of my ‘Road Trip Around South Africa’ campaign — now sitting at over 18 million views across platforms.

“This isn’t just a win for me — it’s a win for every creative person committed to telling authentic African stories and inspiring the world to experience our continent.

“This moment means everything for me and my brand. And, yes, bigger campaigns are loading in partnership with South Africa visits.”

He started his journey at the beginning of the Covid-19-induced lockdowns in 2020.

He created a food review platform dubbed “The African Finder” on his social media pages.

“Everyone enjoys food. I used the reviews as one of the many ways to bring hope to the public,” he said.

After realising the potential of his project, he quit his job a year later to concentrate on creating content for his platforms.

One of his reviews of a hotdog factory attracted 239 700 likes.
