The gospel couple Pastor Charles and Olivia Charamba are set to reclaim their place on the music scene with the launch of two albums on August 16 at the Zimbabwe College of Music.
Baba Charamba’s album is titled “Abba Father” while his wife Olivia’s would be named “Voice of Miriam”. A follow up concert will be held at Aquatic Complex in September.
The introduction of the duo’s products on the market is expected to generate interest and it remains to be seen if they will revamp the genre that is currently under siege from different upstarts.
In an interview Pastor Charamba said they had since finished working on the two projects which would be released this month (August).
“Mai Charamba’s album will be called “Voice of Miriam” while mine would be called “Abba Father”. These two albums will be released on the same day,” he said.
Some of the songs on “Voice of Miriam” include “Ndiri Munana”, “Boycott Sin”, “Vana Mumasango” and “Mwaka” while “Abba Father” has “Jesu Garao”, “Vakanga Vakaita Sei”, “Kutengesa Josefa” and “Ndiregerere”.
“Those are some of the songs that will be on the two albums. We are hopeful that people will like the music,” he said. The musician indicated that they will be tracing their old beats on the new albums.
“We are getting back to the basics on the new albums. We took our time to record the albums and we hope people will accept them,” he said.
The duo that have earned themselves the moniker, “The First Family of Gospel”, have backed each other on several of their songs, successfully blending their fan base that has grown over the years.
With a career spanning over two decades, the Charambas have branded themselves as force to reckon with in the arts industry, where they have diligently pushed their products on the market to appreciative fan base.
“I have worked as a backing vocalist to Mai Charamba and she has worked as my vocalist and that will be the same case on the coming albums,” he said.
Charambas’ last album “WeNazaretha” did not make an impact on the local scene though the musician said it served its purpose. His wife has not released a solo album for a while with her coming album expected to rekindle a relationship with her fans.
