Gospel couple Ellard and Sharon Cherayi are set for their maiden concert at 7 Arts Theatre next week.

It is going to be their first time to host a live show together backed by Bulawayo musician Snowy.

Comedian and social media influencer Nigel Slick Pastor will do transition at the concert, organisers have said.

The event which runs under the theme, “The Lifter of Men: The Heart of Worship” will see radio and television personality Becky K as host. In an interview with The Herald Arts, singer Ellard Cherayi said the time was now ripe to do a duet show.

“This will be a worship concert, a time for heavens to meet earth. Preparations are at an advanced stage and we are happy that those whom we have approached to work with have confirmed their participation,” he said.

“I am happy to be sharing the stage with my wife and some local artistes are coming to support. Slick Pastor will do a transition on stage for us.”

Cherayi said the concert was birthed by the love of worship and fellowship.

“We are dedicating the show to God because He is the lifter on men. It is going to be more of a worship show though the love for praise and worship has led us to come up with such initiatives. Of late our fans have been demanding for it and we have been sceptical about it.”

Asked how has it been working with wife in the music business. “It has been an amazing experience, we complement each other as well as learn from one another.”

“The experience has brought us closer together and we help each other perfect songs though we don’t write for each other but time will tell you never know what happens in future,” he said.

Recently Cherayi who has been doing well with brand ambassadorial ship with different companies revealed how the gospel power couple The Charambas (Pastor Charles Charamba and Olivia) has inspired them.

“Yes, we have met the Charambas not once. They are amazing people, just being around them or talking to them you learn to be humble and understand how to operate in your calling,” he said.

“We have invited them to the show and just expect fireworks. As for them performing, or doing a duet with them or even rendition of their songs, we can never rule that out, God willing and all circumstances permitting we will take it up,” he explained.
