The Gentleman to hit UK big screens

The star-studded movie which hit the screen last October is set to be premiered at the Prince Charles Cinema before it flies back to African soil when it will be shown in Zambia.

In an interview with Saturday Leisure, the man behind the much publicised movie, Joe Njangu said the movie will be shown in the UK before it is screened to the Zambian audience.

“It’s premiering in London at the Prince Charles Cinema on the 24th at 6pm. We leave Zimbabwe on the 21 March and it is also premiering in Zambia on the 31 March,” said the dreadlocked producer and director.

The award winning movie features some of the big names in the showbiz industry who include Zimbabwe’s business tycoon Philip Chiyangwa, Big Brother Amplified housemate Munya Chidzonga, leading South African actor Presley Chweneyagae (famed for his lead role in Tsotsi) and Miss Malawi Cutepie Chibale among other celebrated characters.

The Gentleman is a sweeping story of love, corruption, deception and social degradation. In the movie, Chiyangwa plays the role of Mr Rogers, a Zimbabwean businessman based in South Africa.

Munya plays the roles of twin brothers, one staying in South Africa and the other in Zimbabwe.

Munya won the best actor award in the recently held NAMA awards for his enigmatic role in the movie.

The star-studded team boasts a cast comprising Precious Makhulumo (Amakorokoza actress), Patrick Mabhena (Izolo Yizolo actor), Willis Wataffi (musician), Charles Muzemba (Estate Blues actor), Tonderai Hakuna (Lobola), Elijah Madzikatire (Neria) and Sithandazile Dube (Miss Matofotofo) as well as Amakhosi theatre students Moreblessing Majola and Mthandazo Moyo.

The Gentlemen was last year nominated for Best Director and Best Cinematography in the foreign language category at the American awards.

Njangu scooped the Best Director award at the same awards.
