Tucked away in Eastlea, Harare and owned by top musician, Feli Nandi, KwaNandi’s restaurant has become a beacon of style and sophistication.
But who is the creative genius behind its stunning design? Tanatsa Patrick Mayenga is popularly known as Big Tee and is the talented designer who brought the restaurant’s vision to life.
With a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating unique spaces, Big Tee founded Big Timbers and is renowned for crafting atmospheres that are both warm and modern.
“I always want to create a space that reflects the warmth and hospitality of Zimbabwean culture, while also incorporating modern elements, and that’s what we did with Nandi’s,” Big Tee explains in an interview.
“I am particularly thrilled to see how the community has embraced the restaurant’s design.”
His design journey began in his early teens, having grown up with his dad’s younger brother, Stanford Mayenga who loved art and wood.

“I grew up with my dad’s brother who loved all things art and wood which is where I picked it up from and took it up as given that I was a very hands on guy,” Big Tee revealed.
With a portfolio that includes Kirytan Bar and Restaurant as well as African Sun Boardroom Bar and showcases his company’s versatility and creativity, Big Tee was the perfect fit for Feli Nandi’s new restaurant.
From the rustic-chic decor to the carefully curated artwork, every element of the restaurant’s design has been meticulously thought out. Big Tee’s use of natural materials and bold colours creates a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere, perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic evening.
But Big Tee’s impact goes beyond aesthetics.
His work also plays a crucial role in shaping the restaurant’s functionality, ensuring that every aspect of the space is both beautiful and practical.
“Feli Nandi’s is a true reflection of Zimbabwean hospitality. I’m proud to have played a part in creating a space that brings people together.”
As Feli Nandi’s continues to thrive, Big Tee’s design remains a key part of its success. With a keen eye for innovation and a passion for creativity, this talented designer has left a lasting mark on Harare’s culinary scene.
