NAMIBIAN star Moses Shidolo has says he is happy with the financial packages, and the standard of football, in the Castle Lager Premiership.
He revealed he could have joined one of the top clubs in the South African Betway Premiership but ended up at champions Scottland .
The 28-year-old says he is proud of the Namibian players who have grabbed the opportunity to play in Zimbabwe.
Several Namibians are now plying their trade in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
They include Shidolo’s teammate Stoffel Witbeen, Mbakondja Tjahikika (FC Platinum) and David Ndeunyema (MWOS).
“I am proud of every Namibian player who grabbed the opportunity to play in Zimbabwe.
“It’s not much but Zimbabwe is way better than Namibia, with the money you get here you can build something back home if you save up well.
“You play better football here, you pay better here, you get bonuses that you don’t even get back home
“So greener pastures is definitely the main reason we are here.”
After a stellar 2024-2025 season at Botswana Premier League side Matebele FC, which saw him earn the Midfielder of the Year award, some clubs from South Africa enquired about Shidolo.
But the 28-year-old versatile player landed at Scottland in July last year.
He went on to win his first top-flight league championship with Mabviravira and is now on the cusp of featuring in his maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
Scottland host Eswatini champions Nsingizini Hotspurs at the National Sports on September 6 before playing the reverse fixture the following week.
The Mabvuku side are fighting on four fronts – the CAF Champions League, Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Chibuku Super Cup and the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.
“For me, every game and competition is important as a football player but I’m excited because it will be my first time to play CAF Champions League, it’s big achievement again.
“I’m ready to fight for my team,” said Shidolo, who has been one of the outstanding players this season.
Despite playing as a deep lying central midfielder in most of Scottland’s matches, Shidolo has scored three league goals and has provided five assists.
The Namibian has also been used as a right back in eight matches.
Shidolo’s midfield partnership with Mtokozisi Msebe has been key for Scottland who are gunning for a second straight league championship.
Mabviravira currently lead the log with 57 points, three ahead of second placed Hardrock going into the last seven matches of the season.
Scottland will host MWOS U19 at Rufaro on Saturday for a place in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
