The resurrection of Floppy X

Langalakhe Mabena
When he missed the Best Newcomer Award at the Zim Hip-hop Awards which were held in the city early this month, courage and hope faded for the Mpopoma-bred talented Xolani a?Floppy Xa? Lunga.

However, the tables have turned as the kasi vernac rapper has retained his status as one of the best hip-hop artistes the City of Kings and Queens has ever seen with his song Ngihambe ngeFace landing him the Best Hip-hop Song accolade at the prestigious Skyz Metro FM awards last week.

When he narrates the events which almost fatally destroyed his talent at its prime stage, Floppy X reveals the month of December has taught him life lessons as the proceedings he experienced have strengthened him as an artiste.

a?Early December I dramatically missed an award at the Zim Hip-hop Awards to Tulk Munny, I know I was cheated because musically I am far much better than him. That on its own made me give up on music. However, the Skyz Metro FM award made me bounce back and I am feeling better,a? said Floppy X.

Floppy X, who earned himself a deal as a brand ambassador for Bulawayo traditional beer brewers Ingwebu with his freestyle track Calabash, promised his followers that though the local music scene did not pay, he would stay loyal to his dedicated fans.

With the year already at its end, the rapper who released his album in October titled Under the Influence said fans should expect more from him as he will be doing more collabos outside the country. He said he is already in the studio with South Africaas Kwaito legend Zola 7.

a?Some Bulawayo artistes come and go but I promise my fans I am not going anywhere. 2018 will be a big year as I am planning to feature artistes outside the country. Currently I have recorded a song with Zola 7 which is still at the vocal mastering stage,a? said Floppy X.
