‘The Shift’ turns into lifestyle

Correspondent

The hounds of winter are on us and many are wondering why there is hullabaloo about “The Shift”‚ a business platform that attracts some of the youngest entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe. Quite honestly‚ “The Shift” has become much more than a business forum as it now brings together fashionistas and different people together. They all come with the hope of finding that breakthrough or a transformation about their lives.

Those who attended the second session held recently at Meikles Hotel will admit that “The Shift”‚ is now about “bleisure” or call it lifestyle.

Of course‚ there is a great presence of those who have made it in business and those who are yet to breakthrough‚ however, there isn’t much of a difference judging by the way they dress or the fancy cars they drive.

Attendees came dressed to the nines and you could tell that it is winter from the way people dressed.

The wintry weather did not deter people from attending “The Shift”‚ in fact the number of people doubled from the first session which attracted a full house.

And this time it was more difficult to find a seat since most of the chairs were occupied.

But the question many are asking is why are people now interested in empowerment discussions just like they are with religious matters?

As much as people pray there are also those who want to get down to business and improve on their lives.

Asked why “The Shift” has within the shortest period become popular among young entrepreneurs‚ Chamu Chiwanza, who is the founder of “The Sift” said empowerment issues were more appealing than politics.

“There is more to gain when one rubs shoulders with those who have made it in business.

“Nowadays sharing of business ideas and empowerment appeals more than politics and ‘The Shift’ provides that platform where businesspeople discuss how to transform lives.

“I believe this is why ‘The Shift’ is now trending and pulling huge crowds‚” Chiwanza said.

The recently held “The Shift” saw top South African entrepreneur and philanthropist Sibusiso Leope and Farai Gundan‚ a successful businesswoman based in the US as guest speakers.
