Langelihle Ndlovu, Bulawayo Junior Town Clerk
Depression and mental health is something that has been taken lightly among youths.

The truth is as youths we are affected by the changes of life situations. Just like a tree sheds its leaves every now and then we also have our darkest moments.
Every now and then youths are being lost to drugs. Our societies have turned to dark societies, parents raise drug lords, drug abusers and drug dealers.
But is this the future we want for the next generation?
Suicide and drug abuse has become our source of escapism. Being high has held us low on our academics and held us low on the achievements of life.
Spending more time on drugs is ‘dope’ than spending time at school.
We have lost a lot of souls with potential because of our ignorance, we have lost our meanings as the future generation because of peer pressure.
But our stories are written in different ways.
Mental health institutions, grave yards and prisons are full with future leaders because of drugs.

Drugs have destroyed a lot of people the young and the old. The struggle continues as we fight against drug abuse.
Never be the source of someone’s sorrow and pain by selling drugs.
Be the difference people want and not the problem people fight against.
Be the change we want to see and take a stand against drug and substance abuse.
