There’s no room for unpatriotic acts

Dr Obert Moses Mpofu

Throughout the world, unpatriotic acts have for the longest time been frowned upon.

In some jurisdictions, they even attract severe punishment.

They are tantamount to cutting the same branch one is sitting on.

Self-sabotage is the term I would use to describe the acts perpetrated by some in opposition circles.

The business of selling out one’s country is unprofitable. It is difficult to fathom why one would choose to castigate and attack his/her country.

There is simply no excuse for being unpatriotic.

What some have failed to read from politics is how patriotism and love for one’s country lead directly to political success.

It is for the simple reason that those who vote for political parties reside in Zimbabwe.

The epic failures by the opposition time and again are attributable to their blatant lack of patriotism.

ZANU PF has demonstrated its love for this country since the days of the liberation struggle and continues to do so. Such unflinching patriotism has meant that people have often associated ZANU PF with patriotism.

This is why many have been attracted to ZANU PF, as it represents what being Zimbabwean truly means.

ZANU PF cannot be separated from Zimbabwe.

Some have gone as far as coining the adage that “being ZANU PF is being Zimbabwean and being Zimbabwean is being ZANU PF”. This is the way it has always been and will continue being so.

Times are changing.

Since the August 2023 elections, wherein my party, ZANU PF, emerged victorious, there is a lot that has changed for the better. Good times are indeed upon us.

Such great times and economic successes warrant patriotism and a sense of belonging.

No stone will be left unturned as we make our land a better place for all.

Our strides are consequently narrowing the space for those with a proclivity for unpatriotic acts.

Patriotism is fashionable.

After all, we all belong somewhere, and nothing beats home.

Home is always best.

This is why we have multitudes in the diaspora finding their way back home.

There is now a realisation that our country can and will only be built by its own people.

We are now indeed making progress as a nation.

This is crucial for us to attain our economic aspirations.

We should and we will forge ahead with reinforcing that deep sense of patriotism. It is one of the crucial elements as we rebuild our Zimbabwe.

We should all strive for national pride and have our people reconnect with their motherland, especially those in the diaspora.

There is a clear yearning to retrace their way back home.

That deep connection with one’s nation will undoubtedly lead to positive outcomes.

There is no denying that all the successful nations have been able to leverage on the deep patriotism of their citizens.

Zimbabwe is now a marvel and many now want to come back home.

All are welcome.

ZANU PF, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, has created an attractive environment for everyone.

Over the past two decades, ZANU PF has dominated Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Members of the opposition have been pretenders to the throne.

ZANU PF is ideologically clear, whilst the opposition is teetering on the brink of extinction.

It is unfathomable for the opposition to be on the same level as the colossal people’s movement.

The majority of those who previously identified with the opposition are now joining ZANU PF.

The recent cell/village restructuring exercise has clearly demonstrated that a lot of Zimbabweans want to be associated with the revolutionary party.

This is refreshing and clearly shows the buy-in that our people have in the work and policies of ZANU PF.

We, as ZANU PF, will make sure this thirst is quenched.

The party does not discriminate.

We can all be part of the colossal party.

We will leave no one and no place behind.
