RISING dancehall artist King Alfa – popularly known as Kadiki – has opened up about the painful ordeal his family has been enduring after becoming victims of frequent burglaries.
Born Alfred Makombe, the 12-year-old said the break-ins have become so frequent that his family no longer feels safe in their own home.
“My family is going through a very painful time,” King Alfa said.
“People keep breaking into our home and stealing our belongings. “It has happened so many times that we no longer sleep in peace because we don’t know when they will come back.”
King Alfa said the repeated incidents have left the family confused as they cannot explain how the thieves continue to gain access to their property in Kwekwe.
“We honestly don’t know how they keep getting into the house.
“Sometimes we even wonder what is happening because it keeps happening again and again.
“It has become emotionally exhausting for everyone in the family,” he said.
King Alfa revealed that the latest burglary was among the most devastating, with thieves making away with valuable household items as well as personal belongings.
“Sunday was one of the saddest days for us,” he said.
“They stole my brother Mukoma Eddy’s work laptops, his cellphone, our microwave, money, my school bag and even my school uniforms.
“It was heart-breaking to wake up and realise everything was gone.”
He said losing his school stuff affected him the most.
“I am still a young boy trying to go to school and follow my dreams,” he said. “
Seeing my school things stolen broke my heart because those are things we worked hard to buy.
“It feels like someone is taking away the little we have struggled to achieve.”
Despite the emotional pain, King Alfa said his family is determined not to lose hope and is appealing to Zimbabweans for advice on how they can better protect their home from further attacks.
“I am kindly asking my fellow Zimbabweans for advice,” he said.
“If you have ever gone through something like this, please tell us what helped you.
“We really want to stop these break-ins because we are tired of living in fear.”
The entertainer also appealed for prayers, saying faith has become one of the few things keeping his family strong during the difficult period.
“We believe God will protect us and that one day this pain will come to an end,” he said.
“We are trusting that things will change and that we will finally have peace in our home again.”
King Alfa thanked everyone who has continued to stand with his family during the difficult period, saying every word of encouragement has given them strength to keep going.
“To everyone standing with us, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he said.
“Your prayers and support mean everything to my family.
“We believe we will overcome this difficult chapter and come out stronger.”
