SOUTH Africa-based, fast-rising Amapiano singer Black Diva, is making waves on the music scene, with her debut single Thilo Lilo recently surpassing one million views on YouTube. Released on February 23, this year, the track features SlimVevo and Rebo Dee and was produced and mastered by Elcee Gweja.
Inspired by the need to highlight the dangers of infidelity and its impact on families and communities, Thilo Lilo fuses infectious African beats with a cautionary message, urging listeners to respect the boundaries of other people’s relationships.
From her base in South Africa, Black Diva — who hails from Insiza District — expressed pride in reaching this milestone in less than a year as a professional musician.

“It’s an honour for my first single to garner a million views on YouTube in under a year. I give all credit to fans who have been very supportive in shaping my career. This is a huge achievement for me as it shows that hard work and dedication have paid off. It also reflects my talent and the impact my music has on listeners,” said Black Diva.
Known for her outspoken and sometimes controversial presence on social media, Black Diva says criticism has fuelled her growth.
“I know some say I’m controversial, but to silence naysayers, I divert my energy away from social media and focus on my craft, letting my music speak for itself. As the fastest Matabeleland artiste to reach one million views, I’ve proven my worth. I don’t dwell on what people say; I welcome criticism because it helps me improve. Every stone thrown by haters has helped lay a concrete foundation for my personality and music,” she said.
Meanwhile, Black Diva has received two nominations at this year’s Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA). She is nominated for Outstanding Song of the Year for Thilo Lilo and Outstanding Newcomer. In the Outstanding Song of the Year category, she will compete with Emaweni (Bhila featuring Kaykid Umfanomsotho), Bangihlangabeze Ngekhesi (Mxolisi Mr Bones), Soft Life (Amathonga Amahle), and Ungayithi Vuu (Jaycee Mr Ungayithi Vuu).
For Outstanding Newcomer, she goes head-to-head with General Lesley, Kaykid Umfanomsotho, Khizolamak, We Create, Band of Misfits and Dziba Lemvula.
“To be nominated in these two categories came as a surprise and a huge honour, recognising my talent and hard work. Predictions are hard to make, but I hope and believe I have a chance of winning at least one award, given my achievements and dedication,” Black Diva said.
Her musical journey began with the release of the dancehall track Why, performed in Shona as part of her effort to connect with a wider audience. Building on that success, she released several songs across Afro, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and Amapiano genres, including Why, Badgyal, Ngilombuzo (2023), and Kamuendero Kawakazoita, Ndozvandinomudira, Moses, and the hit Mntanami (2024). Her latest track, Thilo Lilo, marked her breakthrough, complete with captivating visuals that have propelled her into the spotlight.
