THOUSANDS of people converged at Aquatic Complex, Chitungwiza, for the public hearing to present their views on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB 3), with the majority expressing support for the proposed changes.

Harare Metropolitan Minister of State and Devolution Charles Tawengwa expressed gratitude to the attendees for coming out in their numbers to express their views on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB 3).

“The venue of the public hearing became too small because people supported the bill backing the Constitutional Amendment No 3 Bill in totality and voiced their concerns, if any,” said Minister Tawengwa.

“However, there may be those who are questioning the issue of the gender commission and so forth. It is their right, they are exercising their right, they are there to speak against or support it. If they are against it, remember the issue of gender emanated from the Beijing Conference in China, which happened some years ago.

“I urge those women to attend the next two meetings in their numbers again to voice their concerns.”

He urged all residents in Harare to attend the public hearings in their numbers to air their views on the Constitutional Amendment Bill.

“I urge the youth and every citizen of Harare to attend today’s meetings in Epworth and at the City Sports Centre,” he said.

“It is important for young people to see that the Second Republic is working hard to ensure the country’s stability.

“When a nation is stable, investments increase, infrastructure improves, and jobs are created. That is how we will promote employment and opportunity for all.”
