Thousands of Johane Masowe Centenary Sect congregants have converged at Dotito Primary School for the annual Munamato we Bethsaida, which got underway on Thursday under the leadership of Madzibaba Jonah, popularly known as Madzibaba Biggie.
The four-day prayer gathering, which ends on Sunday, has attracted congregants from across the country.
Speaking during the opening of the gathering, Madzibaba Biggie said Munamato we Bethsaida was a prayer tradition established by the church’s late spiritual elders and has been upheld by successive generations.
“This gathering did not start this year. We started some years ago, before some of the leaders passed away,” Madzibaba Biggie said.
“We started with Baba Kotobhiyo, Madzibaba Hosea, Madzibaba Jeffrey, Madzibaba Reuben Murota, Madzibaba Whinziri Kwagwabu Manyara and Madzibaba Justfero just to mention a few.”
Madzibaba Biggie said the current leadership was committed to preserving the spiritual legacy of the church’s pioneers and continuing the work they started.
The gathering follows the church’s recent Musangano Wegore held in Chirumhanzu and has brought together congregants from different parts of the country, including those who recently joined the sect.
Congregants are expected to take part in prayer sessions, worship and other religious activities during the four-day programme.
Munamato we Bethsaida is an annual prayer gathering of the Johane Masowe Centenary Sect that brings together members to pray and reaffirm their faith.
