Three artisanal miners killed in accident

THREE artisanal miners have died after a mining shaft they were working in collapsed in Mutare.

The incident occurred on Monday at 4 PM.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal mining accident which occurred on August 24, 2026, at around 4:30 pm at Plot 55 Premier Central, Mutare.

“Three artisanal miners were killed when a mining shaft, approximately 20 metres deep, collapsed while they were working inside it,” he said.
