AS the sun rose on a chilly Friday morning, Mr Nkosana Mananga (25), embarked on his daily routine with a resolute spirit powered by the unwavering determination to provide for his family.

Despite the biting cold that gripped the streets of Bulawayo’s Central Business District, Mr Mananga ventured out with his trusty ice cream cart, ready to engage in a day’s work.

Little did he know, as he set out on this seemingly ordinary day, that fate had a remarkable turn of events in store for him.
Mr Mananga was part of three lucky vendors, who last Friday won US$2 200 each at the launch of the TX Money Transfer.

The other two lucky winners were Ms Siphiwe Nyoni (35), who together with Mr Mananga both come from Kezi as well as Mr Proceed Ndebele (41) who is from Nkayi.

Ms Nyoni and Mr Ndebele are both vendors who operate along Lobengula Street near Egodini Bus Terminus, selling sweets and fruits.

Perhaps the day’s blessings belonged to Mr Ndebele whose winning card was picked after six other cards had been disqualified as the owners were not present during the draw, as per the rules of the draw.

In an interview with Sunday News, Mr Mananga could not hide his joy.

“I am so happy to win this money. I have been saving money to buy a car that will help me do business. I had already saved an excess of US$2 000 with my wife and I am sure with this money now I will be able to fulfil my dreams,” he said.

Ms Nyoni on the other hand said she is a single mother of four children and has been having difficulties paying rent and other necessities.

“I only sell sweets at the entrance of Egodini Bus Terminus and I am not raising enough to take care of my children and even pay rent. I am planning to buy a house stand to develop our own property,” said Ms Nyoni.

TX money transfer is a remittance service that allows individuals to transfer money locally at very low charges of at least three percent.
