THREE more MDC-T aligned councillors in Kadoma lost their council seats after their party recalled them following leadership squabbles around the mayoral post which has become vacant after the dismissal of Councillor Action Nyamukondiwa, taking the total to seven councillors belonging to the party.

The three recalled councillors are Svorai Chiwara of Ward 2, Julianah Chigariro Ward 5 and Cuthbert Mubaiwa Ward 17.

Their dismissal is said to have been facilitated by acting mayor Councillor Tendai Kokera after the trio raised concern that she was unqualified to be the acting mayor.

Clr Chigariro confirmed their loss of council seats but could not divulge further details: “Ask those who recalled me.”

Recently, Councillor Nyamukondiwa and three other MCD-T councillors were recalled after they were expelled from the opposition party.

Mr Nyamukondiwa was the councillor for Ward 9 while Michael Mvura sat for Ward 3, Edson Muzira for Ward 4 and Nigel Rozario for Ward 15.

In a letter addressed to Mr Malvern Dondo, the Kadoma town clerk, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works July Moyo said the expelled councillors’ positions were now vacant.

“I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) stating that councillor Action Nyamukondiwa of Ward 9, councillor Edson Muzira Ward 4, councillor Nigel Rozario Ward 15 and councillor Michael Mvura Ward 3 have been expelled from the party,” he said.

In terms of the Constitution the four wards were now vacant and in terms of the Electoral Act the Town Clerk had to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of the vacancies.
