Three perish in Marondera crash

Three people died and three others were injured in Marondera when a Volvo truck heading from Mutare to Harare side swiped the left side of a Ford Ranger vehicle at the 72 km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway.

The accident occurred around 3am on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Two people died on spot and the other later succumbed to the injuries on arrival at Marondera Hospital.

The deceased are believed to be all from Marondera.

Witnesses said Mr Warren Masendu (26), who was driving a Ford Ranger vehicle, did not stop at the intersection and proceeded up the road while the one driving the Volvo truck Mr Magachika Muchayemura ladden with timber was also driving through the same intersection resulting in the fatal accident.

When The Herald journalists arrived at the scene, bodies were already removed together with the Ford Ranger vehicle.
