THREE University of Zimbabwe security guards allegedly assaulted a bike delivery man whom they accused of theft.

Chipo Munyikwa 35, Tonderai Mudzinganyama 55 and Jorum Mushayi 61, were not asked to plead when they appeared in court.

The complainant is Shepherd Mutamba 27, of Eye Court Waterfalls. Prosecutors alleged that on September 11, Mutamba received a message on his WhatsApp from Amos Sarai, telling him to collect money at the University farm.

He agreed to do the job and used his bike to collect cash from Munyikwa.

When he arrived at the UZ farm, he received US$250.

Later same day Mutamba received another message from Sarai to collect more money from the same place but from a different person.

Mutamba told him he could only do it the following day.

He had US$1,500 cash, which was meant to be delivered to another client, when he arrived at the UZ Farm.He claims he was then surrounded by the security guards, who accused him of being a thief, and they allegedly took turns in assaulting him.
