adminLOS ANGELES. – Tiger Woods accepts that next week’s US PGA Championship in Wisconsin could signal the end of his season. The former world No. 1 golfer is languishing in 189th position in the FedEx Cup standings, needing to rise 60 spots to qualify for the end of season PGA Tour play-offs which begin later this month.
The 39-year-old acknowledges that failure to improve his ranking with a high finish in the fourth and final major of the season will leave little to be gained by playing in the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the qualifying period.
Victory at Whistling Straits would move Woods into the top 60 in the FedEx table while a second-place finish could see the 14-time major winner sneak into the all-important top 125.
“By playing well in the PGA, that determines whether or not I’ll play Wyndham, and obviously the rest of the FedEx Cup play-offs,” he said.
“I need to obviously play well at the PGA to get myself to move up in points and then give myself an opportunity to get into the play-offs.” – Sky Sports.
