Chipaz Promotions who are the organisers of the I-Octane gig that will be held at City Sports Centre on December 12 have come up with tight security measures for artists and merrymakers.
Jamaica’s I-Octane will be supported by local musicians including Winky D, Sniper Storm, Shinsoman, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Dadza D, Hwindi President, Kinna, Lady Squanda, Judgement Yard, Merciless Zim, Chillspot Records, Chipaz Sound, Templeman and Garry B, DJ Cables, DJ Smily, Fyah Lynx and Leny Matherhorn.
Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promorions said the previous incident when Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda was caught up in a violence storm at Busy Signal had prompted them to tighten security.
“We will ensure that there is a clear demarcation between artistes’ arena and fans’ area. We have held meetings with security providers and we have come up with various ways to deal with rowdy elements.
‘‘Things will not be the same and we will ensure peace prevails. We will not tolerate violent behaviour and we will have various means to handle any situation that arises without causing commotion,” said Chimbodza.
The show will be Jamaican star’s maiden concert in Zimbabwe and several artistes have since confirmed participation at the show.
A lot is expected at the show as the top entertainers will be performing to impress ahead of the busy festive season.
Winky D, who has released his singles collection, has been dubbed man of the moment.
Since the release of the much wanted collection Winky D has gone a gear up and managed to give fans the best.
For years the musician managed to thrill fans and is a serious stage threat for foreign artistes because he can easily steal the show.
Shinsoman who has released a 16-track album will be one of the performers.
It will be his first time to share stage with Winky D after the release of their top chatting song “Survivor”.
Yesterday Chimbodza said they have done all the necessary paper work for I-Octane’s tour and they are waiting for the day.
The 31-year-old internationally-acclaimed reggae and dancehall artiste started recording music commercially as a teenager when he released singles such as “Oh Jah” and “Stepp a Seed”.
He went on to drop chart-toppers such as “Straight From The Heart”, “Burn Dem Bridge”, “Crying To The Nation”, “Badmind Dem A Pree”,a collaboration with Bounty Killer produced by Buju Banton’s son Markus Myrie and Love Di Vibes among others.
He is popular among local dancehall fans and the show is likely to attract a huge crowd.
