THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is expecting a bigger and better 16th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.

The annual event will be held in Bulawayo from October 12 to 14.

A cocktail of events — including township tourism, musical performances, cultural exhibitions and familiarisation trips to different tourism sites across the country — will punctuate the two-day event.

The expo attracts local and international exhibitors, industry professionals and visitors interested in exploring Zimbabwe’s unique tourism attractions and investment opportunities.

“Preparations are progressing well and registration for participants is still on. We are expecting more buyers and exhibitors this year,” said ZTA head of corporate affairs Godfrey “Chief” Koti.

“Going beyond previous editions, the 16th edition aims to exceed expectations by bringing together exhibitors from various sectors — including tour operators, accommodation establishments, wildlife reserves, adventure sports providers and cultural organisations.”

Sanganai/Hlanganani celebrates the resilience, dynamism and untapped potential of Zimbabwe as a premiere tourism destination.

“The objective is to showcase the beauty, heritage and hospitality of our country,” said Koti.

ZTA is excited about the preparations and enthusiasm being shown by stakeholders in the fair.  Preparations for the event, which will take place at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Grounds, are now at an advanced stage.  The expo presents a perfect platform for acquiring knowledge about different source markets.

Long-term partnerships created in the tourism sector have been crucial in driving economic growth and development.

“One of the core objectives of this expo is to foster collaboration and networking opportunities among industry professionals that include local and international exhibitors, travel agents, tour operators, journalists and Government officials. Together, stakeholders aim to generate revenue, create sustainable employment opportunities and propel Zimbabwe’s tourism sector forward. Our objectives include, unpacking tourism investment opportunities and exploring new frontiers.”

This year’s edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo is expected to attract visitors from around the globe, firmly establishing Zimbabwe on the international tourism map.

For years, Sanganai/Hlanganani has played a key role in unifying the region into a multi-attraction tourist destination.

Top local musicians and those from South Africa performed during last year’s edition.

“We plan to deliver a flawless event, hence the need for us to be thorough in our preparations. A lot will be on offer and there will be everything for everyone. Some of the plans and programmes will be announced as we draw closer to the event’s dates,” said Koti.
