TINO KADEWERE INVESTS IN SCHOOLBOY FOOTBALLERS

NANTES forward Tino Kadewere, through his Kadewere Foundation, has donated two kits comprising a full 25-playing set and a training kit FIFA-certified match balls and a first aid kit box.

The foundation also pledged to reward the top goal-scorer and player-of-the-tournament at a tourney which will be held today at Prince Edward School.

The winners will get new boots and a trophy.

Kadewere is a former Prince Edward student.

His football career started taking shape while he was at the school before he joined Harare City.

The Kadewere Foundation chairman, Prosper Kadewere, said they were appreciative of the role played by the school in grooming Tino.

“We are very much appreciative of the role the school played in the grooming of Tino.

“He is an individual who has always appreciated his background and upbringing and has always made efforts to honour all those who took part in his grooming.

“It is only prudent for him, through the Kadewere Foundation, that we come in, making donations like these,” he said.

Prince Edward School coach, Norman Taruvinga, said the gesture by the foundation was important as it will go a long way in inspiring the boys.

“This donation is important for the young boys. From next year, the school will be using both the warm-up kit and the playing kit.

“It’s important for these youngsters for them to learn and understand that football is a rewarding profession.

“The boys are inspired to reach the same greater heights as Tino and or even surpass him as they are coming through the same systems.

“The fact that we are having our former boys coming back to the school should be an eye-opener to the school that we continue treating our current boys fairly such that when they become millionaires they will always find their way back to assist the school.

“So, they should be nurtured in a way that they will grow up and find respect in the institution and not to have sour grapes.”

He added:

“The tournament has more than 20 teams and has representatives from the length and breadth of the country.

“We did an online registration system as we wanted to avoid chaotic situations of age-cheating and so forth.

“We want it to be pure football and the foundation has pledged towards the tournament too.”
