TM Pick n Pay, CABS resume nationwide free cancer screening

TM Pick n Pay, in partnership with CABS and the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, has officially resumed its nationwide free cancer screening programme for 2026.

The screenings commenced on March 9 in Masvingo, marking the beginning of a year-long effort to deliver life-saving cancer screening services to communities across Zimbabwe.

Building on the success of the 2025 programme – which screened 1 715 women across 11 sites – the partners have significantly expanded their impact this year. The 2026 campaign has set an ambitious target to screen 10 000 women by the end of the year.

The programme remains firmly focused on promoting equitable access to healthcare, with a deliberate emphasis on marginalised and rural communities where access to specialist diagnostic services is often limited by geography and cost.

In March alone, a total of 1 167 women were screened across Masvingo, Chinhoyi, Banket and Gwanda.

During April, screening activities have continued in Kadoma and Chegutu, with the programme set to conclude the month at various sites around Harare, including Glen View, Ruwa and Highfield.

The nationwide screening drive is funded through a combined US$110 000 contribution from TM Pick n Pay and CABS.

The funds were raised through customer donations and the highly supported “Swipe for a Cause” initiative.

Speaking on the importance of early detection, CABS Managing Director, Mehluli Mpofu, said, “Knowledge is the starting point in the fight against cancer.

“When people understand the risks and the importance of early detection, they are empowered to take action.”

TM Pick n Pay Zimbabwe Managing Director, Malcolm Mycroft, echoed the sentiment, adding, “Our goal is simple: early detection saves lives. By bringing cancer screening services directly into marginalised communities, we are giving families the greatest possible gift – the gift of time and health.”

The cancer awareness and screening initiative forms a cornerstone of TM Pick n Pay’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, guided by the principle ‘Doing Good is Good Business.’

Together with CABS and the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, the partnership is committed to ensuring that no Zimbabwean is excluded from the fight against cancer due to financial constraints or geographic location.
