YOUTHS have been urged to shun violence and to be well disciplined as the country gears for national harmonised elections this year.

Addressing youths at an inter-district meeting in Harare last Friday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi said violence tarnishes the image of the revolutionary party.

“The President wants youths that are organised, disciplined and corrupt free, those who do not practise corrupt tendencies,” he said.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa does not tolerate violence and indiscipline. If you want jobs do not be violent just focus on the elections.” Cde Togarepi told the youths that peace attracts foreign direct investment.

“Let us go and tell other youths out there that violence, corruption are not acceptable in Zanu-PF,” said cde Togarepi.

“If they learn that we are violent in our country they would not want to invest. If you want jobs first you must be disciplined.” Cde Togarepi urged the police to thoroughly investigate a case in which Dr Joice Mujuru is alleged to have been assaulted in Glen View recently.

“There is an issue of Joice Mujuru claiming to have been victimised. We are asking that the issue be investigated properly because it is tarnishing our image,” he said.

“I hope that they will carry out the investigation honestly without accusing innocent people.” Cde Togarepi said President Mnangagwa wants to see a peaceful and progressive Zimbabwe.

“Tell other youths, who are not here, that our President wants to see employment of the youths and our country developing,” said Cde Togarepi.
