Tom’s Diner wins Zimbabwe Challenge

TOM’S DINER is the Zimbabwe Challenge champion after he emerged victorious at the first race of the year at Borrowdale Park and Racecourse at the weekend.

Jockey Philasande Mxoli also took his career wins to 242 in the process.

Tom’s diner was ahead of Guerra by 0.75 lengths to pocket the US$2 000 first prize, with the runner-up walking home US$1 000 richer.

Guerra is from the Bridget Stido stable, and it had Jarryd Penny on the irons.

Third place went to Action Zone who had Mathew Thackeray as the jockey and managed to pocket US$600, with Jager Moon coming fourth.

The Zimbabwe Challenge was the future race in the first race meeting of the year 2026 and had 12 runners who took to the starting stalls.

The other races saw Pocket Watch winning race five while Zafar won the Syndicate Merit rated 80 handicap.

It was a good day in the office for Thackeray who won three races on the day.
