Top-drawer performances at Independence Day Gala

MUSICIANS who will be performing at the Independence Day celebrations to be held at Murambinda Town Centre, Buhera District in Manicaland province have promised to dish out top-drawer performances and have encouraged people of all walks of life to attend.

Scores of musicians have been lined up to entertain people on 18 April, with the main celebrations set for Manicaland, with provincial programmes  also lined up. 

Top Bulawayo musician Sandra Ndebele, described the day as important to her and said she was excited to be among musicians who would be performing on the day.

“I’m a born free. Be that as it may, I’m a beneficiary of Independence ,which was brought after a protracted struggle. I’m really excited to have been chosen to perform and to represent all the born frees. People should come in numbers to celebrate the day as we remember our heroes, who sacrificed their lives for us to live in an independent country,” she said.

Kanindo musician, Shantel Sithole said she will give it her all and dish out a number of songs.

“I’m humbled to be among the people who will be performing. I promise my fans and all those who will attend that I will give my all, as I will also be celebrating the freedom of our independence. Most definitely my hit songs such as Nganganga and Muchaitasei, will be among the songs I will perform,” she said.

She cherished the opportunity and exposure she will get.

“Just imagine, a number of people will be paying attention to the day. Some will be at the venue while some will be following the event from their homes. As such I will gain exposure and experience,” she said.

Harare super star, DJ Fantan promised his best, as he said he enjoys the gains of Independence.

“I promise fireworks and I will be with DJ Levels and Ribhe. I will be coming alongside a surprise artiste and those who will attend will be the first to see the artiste,” he said.

Veteran, Sulumani Chimbetu encouraged people of all walks of life to cherish the day.

“If there is any day that we should celebrate the most it’s Independence Day, as we remember our national heroes and the free country we live in. I’m excited to be part of the line up of musicians who will be performing. I would encourage every Zimbabwean to be at the venue and be part of the celebrations,” he said.

Other artistes that have been lined up to perform on Independence Day ,include Andy Muridzo, Bio Mudimba, Tambaoga, Jah Master , Nicholas Zacharia, Diana Samukange, Big Boy Motsi, Agartha Marudzwa and Methia Mhere, among others.

There will be a Children’s Party, where selected children from all the country’s provinces will meet President Mnangagwa, a day before the main celebrations. A soccer match will also be held on the day of the main celebrations.
