A TOP Kadoma Primary School, Sir John Kennedy, is in Nairobi for the Pan-Africa Public Speaking and Debate Championships.

The competition, which started on Sunday, will end tomorrow.

The seven-member team booked their place at the regional competition after coming out tops in Mozambique in August this year during a SADC Junior Public Speaking and Debate Championship.

Head of delegation Garikai Shingayi, who is a teacher at the school, said his team was very strong and will fly the country’s flag high like what they did in Mozambique.

“We’re off to Kenya for a Primary School Debate Challenge (Pan-Africa Level Championships) and our school squad is made up of seven pupils.

“There are three pupils for debate while the other four will compete in public speaking.

“We have a very strong team and the pupils are ready to conquer Kenya and would like to thank all those who made this trip a success and we promise to raise the Zimbabwe flag high.”

Shirley Mashinga, one of the students, said:

“We’re off to Kenya for the Debate Championships and we are very happy and we promise that we are not going to disappoint and we’ll try to fly our flag very high.”

Sir John Kennedy has a proud history as a top primary school in the area and Mashonaland West province.
