Ngulube (27), arguably one of the best anchormen plying his trade in the local Castle Lager Premiership League, said yesterday that he was looking forward to playing for Bosso this coming season.
He said his ambition was to win accolades and feels Bosso could be an avenue for him to land his hands on domestic silverware.
“The truth of the matter is that I want to return home and play here in Bulawayo. My contract with Monomotapa expired on 31 December 2012. Obviously if the opportunity arises for me to play for a big team like Highlanders I will go for it.
“It’s a challenge to play for a big club and I am ready for that. I am someone who is driven by desire to win and I feel Bosso is an ideal place for me to realise my dream,” he said.
Ngulube was one of Monomotapa’s key players last season and the team ended the season on a high note despite losing 2-0 to Dynamos in the Mbada Diamonds Cup final.
The former Njube High School pupil is also believed to be on Chicken Inn’s radar.
Chicken Inn want him to fill in the gap left by Sydney Linyama who is reported to be on his way to league champions Dynamos.
Ngulube could neither deny nor confirm that the fastfood outlets sponsored club was after his signature.
“There are some teams that have approached me but I am yet to make up my mind. I have to consider what they are offering but like I said, opportunities to play for big teams like Highlanders or Caps United come once and one has to be sober in making football decisions.
“Although I am out of contract, I will not rush to make commitments,” Ngulube said.
When Njube Sundowns was relegated from the topflight league at the end of 2009, Monomotapa quickly snapped up Ngulube and bought him a house in Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo as part of his signing-on fees. Ngulube signed a three-year contract with the Harare club.
If his intended move to Bosso materialises, he will re-unite with ex-Sundowns teammate Heritein Masuku.
Sources close to Highlanders confirmed that the club’s technical team was monitoring the lanky midfielder last season.
“The coach (Kelvin Kaindu) has a final say on his squad and he once spoke about the player. Kaindu spoke about the need to beef up the squad and Ngulube is one of the players that might join the team,” said a source.
Ngulube is not the only player who has made his intentions of joining Bosso known as Chicken Inn and Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year finalist Kudakwashe Mahachi last month also dangled the carrot at Highlanders declaring his desire to play for the Bulawayo giants this year.
Sources told this publication that Mahachi had for sometime expressed his desire to join the Bulawayo giants and has already approached the club.
The maverick Young Warriors midfielder snubbed an offer to extend his stay at the fastfood outlets sponsored Chicken Inn.
“It is every player’s dream to turn out for one of the country’s big teams and as an ambitious young player, I also have a dream to play for a bigger club and in this case it is Highlanders. I grew up watching Johannes Ngodzo who I believe is the best player of his generation to come from Mzilikazi and is my idol.
“It’s not that I am not happy at Chicken Inn but opportunities to play for Highlanders come once in a while and if the offer is good I will join them,” said Mahachi.
The Mzilikazi born star whose stakes seem to be on the rise is a former Highlanders juniors player. His contract with Chicken Inn expired on 31 December 2012.
Mahachi was a marvel for Chicken Inn with his dazzling footwork and great skill, making him one of the most feared attacking midfielders in the country.
He scored three goals and had many assists.
