A bold decision taken by the Bulawayo Social Soccer League (BSSL) executive to have the Founders Cup tournament played at Mambo, Tshabalala recently was received with mixed feelings within the league as some felt the ground was a “potato field.”
However, multi-talented 70 Combination player Paul Mpofu who is globe-trotting playing music believes the decision to bring the games to Tshabalala was a greater honour by the league to one of its most successful team, 70 Combination who have six league cups under their belt
“ Thank you BSSL and all those who made it possible to honour one of the biggest and most successful team in the league.
I know some could be not happy about the move but the wise, kind BSSL leaders saw it right to bring it to Mambo.
As 70 Combination I say, God bless all who made it possible, we are the most successful team in the league and our leaders heard me cry for that and respected my request to have a tournament played at Mambo,” said Mpofu.
Today the teams are on the road once again in search points which will decide who the best teams in their respective Pools are at the end of the season.
The winners will clash in the Champion of Champions Cup which is used to determine the best team in the league.
