Rodney Pangenyama, a manager at Total Union Avenue Service Station, is allegedly facing 37 counts of fraud after he allegedly pocketed money from fuel sales and the service station’s grocery shop.
Pangenyama (23) was not formally charged when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei charged with theft of trust property. Mr Ndirowei remanded him out of custody to October 10 this year on US$50 bail.
His duties were overall management of the service station, cash handling and banking.
The service station runs a grocery shop at the same premises and it was Pangenyama’s duty to receive money obtained during the course on behalf of the bank. Prosecutor Ms Mollyn Mutamangira alleges that between
June 3 and August 23 this year the service station sold fuel and Pangenyama collected money from the daily sales for him to bank but in the process he pocketed some of the money amounting US$12 457. The State says Pangenyama collected money from the grocery shop amounting to US$1 602 for banking and instead of banking the money he converted it to his own use.
The total prejudice is US$14 059 91.
